Special Education – The Basics You Need to Know

This session provides an overview of special education requirements concerning transition services and the responsibilities for schools in meeting the mandates of the law. An essential part of the presentation will discuss the collaboration and partnerships that are necessary for successful transition for students.

T-Folio: Online Transition Curriculum

Presentation and facilitated conversation with Lacey Hertlein, Washington High School; moderated by Jennifer Stanton, CCTS.

This session introduces the newest CCTS platform, T-Folio, a free online transition curriculum designed for high school aged youth to use with the assistance of school and DVR facilitators.

Working Together: Building DVR and School Partnerships
Fuji Rooms 1 & 2

Presented by Tammie Doyle and Becky Gellerson, DVR; Dr. Marcus Poppen, WSU; Midge Rigsby-Eldredge, Spokane Public Schools.

A basic overview of the patterns of services available from DVR, federal regulations that describe VR’s role in coordinating with education officials, and how DVR and school partnerships can support transition-aged youth with disabilities. Participants will also learn about the DVR Customer Service Manual and hear from a local DVR and school partnership.
